Hello and welcome! I’m Neil Lynch—better known these days as Saltey Santa—and I’d love to share how this magical journey began.
For many years, I worked as a registered nurse. Caring for others brought me deep joy and purpose, but after five heart attacks and long, demanding shifts, I was forced into early retirement. I wasn’t sure what came next… until love and a little Christmas magic stepped in.
After marrying the love of my life (the day after Christmas, no less!), she encouraged me to grow out my beard. On our honeymoon, while enjoying a show at the beach, a little girl across the room tugged at her dad’s sleeve and whispered, “That’s Santa.” Her father approached me and asked if she could say hello. I knelt down, spoke with her, and felt something spark inside me. Her joy was contagious—and when she came back for not one, but two hugs, I knew: this was what I was meant to do.
That moment lit a fire in my heart. Since then, I’ve embraced the role of Santa Claus with open arms, bringing smiles, hugs, and holiday cheer to children and families across the Carolinas. I especially cherish providing Santa services to those with special needs—everyone deserves a little magic.
Today, I’m healthier than ever, 100 pounds lighter, off several medications, and full of energy to spread joy wherever I go. Whether it’s a parade, party, or quiet moment with a child who believes, I’m honored to be part of your holiday entertainment and memories.
With warmth and wonder,
Neil Lynch (aka Saltey Santa)
